ABSTRACT
Introduction: Understanding the expression of the erythropoietin gene is crucial as it plays a central role in the body’s response to anaemia in sickle cell patients. Studies on erythropoietin gene
expression have been instrumental in elucidating the mechanism by which cells and tissues detect hypoxia. This study aims to determine molecular erythropoietin gene expression and evaluate red cell indices as determinants of the severity of sickle cell disease.
